Vinegaroon
Although the vinegaroon may seem threatening, it has no venom and is a safe fascination for curious children. A nocturnal eater of other bugs, this arachnid is about three inches long with a long whip-like but harmless tail attached. Its longer, thin front legs are used as feelers and a forceful set of pincers, which are little threat to humans. The vinegaroon got its name because at the base of its tail is a gland that produces a harmless vinegar scented acetic acid which it will squirt out when threatened.
