Hedgehog
At this altitude the distinctive varieties of small, nocturnal blooming cacti seems almost limitless. A whole range of various hedgehogs, pincushions, buttons, snowballs, beehives, and pineapples (all with their unique Latin species grouping) can be found most easily early mornings, before the sun covers their flowers, during their spring bloomings. The rest of the year they allow themselves to be found by the observant eye. Of course, their spines always make them sharply known to a careless ankle or heedless hands scattering about the ground for some obscure reason.
