White-tail deer
Here, in the desert, white-tail deer give birth in fall. The summer rains are finished so their food is plentiful and the winters, even with their snow and freezing nights, are milder than our dry springs and hot summers. The white-tail deer is common on Myrtle Kraft Cottage. The mule deer, which only a couple decades ago lived here regularly along with the white-tail, now drop into this altitude a few times a year.
