Darkling beetle
A hard black insect, the darkling beetle seems to spend most of its life walking purposely to some destination only it knows. Its notable habit is standing on its head whenever alarmed and it seems to be alarmed day and night. A scavenger when adult, as larva it lives underground and eats dead plant material.
